In the novels, set in the year between the first and second seasons, Anya serves as Nunnally’s knight. She demonstrates an unusual familiarity with the deceased Empress Marianne, able to find her way through Marianne’s home despite it having been sealed off after her assassination. She cries for no apparent reason when piloting the Ganymede.
Who put this on Wiki? Anya piloted a Ganymede spin-off called the Europa, not a Ganymede itself. I corrected the name, but someone’s going to revert it back probably.
*does something useful*
Geass website was updated with the following:
Galahad: Knight of 1’s KMF. Is “hueg” KMF. The sword is called Excalibur. Excalibur, notably, has its own fucking landspinner. Jesus what the hell.
Percival: Knight of 10’s KMF. Nicknamed the Vampire (Bloodsucker) of Britannia. The claw thing on the arm is actually a drill. Shield has a spike. Well, really, like every fucking piece of the KMF has a spike.
Now where is the Knight of 12’s KMF. Sexism! q_q
I want to clarify something about the Guren naming, ’cause I realize I didn’t really address this in my last naming post. :p
紅蓮聖天八極式
紅蓮: Guren
聖天: Seiten or Shouten/Shouden
八極: Hakkyoku (8 Extremes)
式: Shiki (-Type)
The translation differences people have about 紅蓮聖天八極式 are due to the seiten vs. shouten/shouden. If you read 聖天 individually as sei and ten, then they are, individually, sacred/holy and heaven. If you read 聖天 together as shouten/shouden, then it’s Ganesha/Ganapati. You can’t just romanize 聖天 as seiten or shouten/shouden then say, “This means either Heaven or Ganesha”. What we’re waiting for is someone to say it in the show so we know. :3
Because the last Guren name (Kashou Shiki) was used to denote its new mobility, then its likely that this is supposed to be read as something like, “Guren [____] Eight Extremities-Type”, and what goes in the [_____] is the pronunciation of the kanji, not a translation. Like, Guren Seiten/Shouten/Shouden is the new name, and model/build is Eight Extremities. I don’t really have any proof for this, I’m just making guesses based off of how they translated Kashou Shiki into “Flight Enabled-Type” on-screen, but left Guren untranslated. (Although, its really confusing. They translated Shinkirou as Mirage on-screen in ep 12…)
Name Guessing Game:
- Guren Ganesha Eight Extremities-Type [The implication here is that it removes all obstacles in all directions. This would be punny cause of Ganesha's four arms.]
- Guren Eight Extremities of the Heavens Type [Can go EVERYWHERE in the SACRED HEAVENS etc.]
Frankly imma call it Guren Lagann-Type until they pronounce the kanji in the show.
紅蓮: Guren
聖天: Ganapati (Ganesha, not Brahmanaspati)
八極: Eight Directions (Means that you’re covering all ground, coj thinks it just means the Guren’s mobility stuff is super duper upgraded and it can now go anywhere)
式: -Type
聖天: Individually read, this is like, “Super Awesome Heaven”. Let’s fucking ignore that though, because this show LOVES Jupiter, and we can link Jupiter to those 2 Kanji through a chain of bullshit (this is fitting of Geass).
聖天 is a reading of Ganesha, an elephant deity who removes obstacles. (THANKS AMERICAN GODS!)
Ganesha also goes by Ganapati (title).
Ganesha is called Ganapati due to a writing which likened him to BEING FUCKING AWESOME.
Ganapati is a title meaning you’re the ruler of planets. This is only fitting of Jupiter because it’s the hugest fucking planet.
However, I guess you can’t really link it like that in Japanese…? Idk how Hinduism works in Magic JP land, but Ganapati isn’t really the “name”. coj said that JP Buddhism is removed from Hindu so this name is probably confusing the fuck out of Japanese people too. So what’s the intended meaning, Ganesha or Ganapati? I assume because of the Jupiter in the Op, its Ganapati.
…Guren Ganesha Eight Extremities Type?
Guren Obstable Remover Full AoE-Type
Guren AoE Easy Mode-Type
Guren ~ To the Ends of the World, In Honor of Ganesha Type
Guren Elephant God Ends of Earth Form
Guren Ganapati AoE-Type
Guren Ganapati & Eight Extremes Model
Guren Mk. Ganapati Eight Extremes
……ffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff
Disregard this. I was right about Ganapati, but not about which Ganapati I was associating with.
