Weekly pot ‘o potpourri

  • First thing’s first: Why didn’t anyone tell me I spelled potpourri wrong last time.
  • Geass Voice Synthesizer. What is this I don’t even…
  • Taniguchi has been giving an interview for a business site about anime, making a hit, viewer generations, la la la. After the shitstorm caused by just commentary on a Taniguchi interview, I don’t really feel like delving too deeply into this. However, at one point, Taniguchi says that there’s 3 elements to a successful, which he names off as being your DVD and toy sales, your TV ratings, aaand if people are still humming the tunes from the show years down the road. This made me think of someone walking into Hot Topic goin’ jibun wo~ in the future.
  • After a blurb in Gattai about me raping Schneizel’s corpse, I have decided that if Schneizel’s corpse makes it out of Geass intact, Kannon will keep it a la Rose for Emily in some room. Ignore the rat poizn part, though.
    • Oh, and Eej wants morphing .gif’s of Michael Garret <-> Kannon and Quattro <-> Schneizel. Someone make these, thanks.
  • The Geass mafia game started the other day too. >:0! Quit being pussyfooting faggots and post, imo.
  • I was writing something in this bullet point about Lelouch’s theatrics bullshit which turned into how I thought his voice actor always felt “forced” and this was representative of that and then this somehow morphed into how Nunnally being alive is kind of dumb and why LAST BOSS NUNNALLY would come off better if it was just LAST BOSS NUNNALLY or just LAST BOSS SCHNEIZEL and not like two phase battle but this is kind of related to why I didn’t think Schneizel would make an impression as a LAST BOSS because he comes off as set fireworks then sit around and watch them explode and then I realized this could probably be its own post and wound up writing about how I came to this conclusion because I think I just wasted an hour writing something I didn’t end up posting or something and I might be a little emo on the inside and baaaw.
  • Kannon-tan is introduced in the R2 novels asking Schneizel if he would like more tea~ I don’t think the novels are canon due to various contradictions but this shit is cute and amusing. :(
  • Uh, Euphy’s dub voice. I’m not sure how to say this. It’s like some episodes she sounds like she’s 12, and some episodes she sounds like she’s 40.
  • Is it bad if the only reason why I want to see ep 23 is to get a clean screenshot of that delicious evil guy face that Schneizel was making in the preview?

Correction to the Roman Album interview

It has been discovered that the 2ch write up of the interview which Mandoric translated from had a typo. Religion is not religion, but rather production. Both religious beliefs and production are shinkou - different kanji, same pronunciation. (Likely the 2ch anon input shinkou via waapuro then used the wrong kanji)

Anyway, hopefully this clears up any confusion about that line from the interview.

Lesson learned = Don’t bother w/o scans.

(You know, I never learned exactly what this sign the piggie is holding says during my time on Perfect World, but he looks apologetic.)

Taniguchi Interview from the Roman Album

I found something that looked like the Roman Album Taniguchi interview from 2ch yesterday. Mandoric checked it against what Tamaki’s Girlfriend had written before, and translated by my request. I assume this is just part of it? Not sure without scans of the Album itself. Read more »

Taniguchi on Geass: “NOT AS PLANNED”

Tamaki’s Girlfriend posted a write-up about part of a Taniguchi interview (Taniguchi is the guy who’s directing Geass) at a board which must not-be-named etc. This is just about part of the interview, not the whole thing. In the part of the article she wrote about, Taniguchi talks about how Code Geass has been a total saga of NOT AS PLANNED for Taniguchi.

She said she didn’t mind if I re-posted what she wrote, so here it is, though she can’t answer any questions about the rest of the interview as she is avoiding spoilerific places like here. Hit the read more for her write-up~ Read more »
