Macross Frontier 25: The Insert Song Spam From Hell

I’ve never liked Seikan much, but this part where Sheryl went, “Alto” and he saluted the girls while Seikan was playing then Sheryl saluted him back was kinda cool.

After writing the Schneizel’s Mask post last night, I fixed up the insert songs in Macross F 25 for ChaosShadow. 3hrs, 11 font files, and a billion colors later, the inserts file v1 was done. And just now I went insane and timed all of the “What ’bout my star?” lines that Ranka is singing in the background when Sheryl starts up Lion again. Then I told Chaos, “How ’bout my sensory overload~?” Basically I am severely butthurt from INSERT SONGS and feel like bitching about it. Macross F has really made me come to hate fansub karaoke and fucking songs because there’s so fucking many of them, yet, back in the day, my job for a time was only making karaoke effects. D: Sometimes with Macross, I get these random ideas for karaoke effects even though we’ve downgraded to just softsubbed lyrics and translation. Like I wanted to make hardsubbed Lion karaoke with spinning triangles and particles. Earlier I desired to make rainbow kitty paw Neko Nikki karaoke. Also we’ve been pretty irresponsible with songs in Macross. We never really made a conscious effort to keep “master” song files sitting around, so the “timing” was more like “copy paste from other episodes lolol”.

…in retrospect it might have been fun to pick everything, but god damn, what a pain in the ass. Fuck you Macross.

At least the insert song spam is over.

…until the Macross Frontier movie, that is.

Btw, some release notes in advance: Release will be ~700mb, have dual audio tracks (Stereo & 5.1 upmix), and dual sub tracks (default won’t have any inserts, alt track will have full blown styled sensory overload faggotry on the inserts).

We’ve now made chapters based on when each song plays. God help us.

VLC wants to be fabulous

To my amusement, a VLC 0.9.2 promotional video is using our Code Geass R2 opening karaoke to show off some softsub capabilities. They’ve implemented libass and our pretty butterflies, FABULOUS colors, karaoke fills, and lolrotations work. But it looks like the fading sucks or the video is laggy as fuck. I’m wondering if they used our Geass R2 specifically because it’s us, or because of the overrides we used in the opening?

If you were around during season 1 of Geass with gg, you might remember that two of our episodes (15 and 16) had .ass code which exploited VLC’s poor softsub rendering. That script was, as I recall it, me and silverfire being assholes with an mIRC .ass garbage generator script. In .ass, comments are made using {} for brackets, and VLC breaks those. This caused people to go on their forums and complain due to the popularity of Geass and us being the main group subbing it at that time. See this thread and this thread. One of their dev’s even ventured into our IRC room and was talking to amz about implementing superior softsub support.

(PS: VLC is still shitty for technical reasons that few people care about!)

gg’s translator had a power failure

gg’s translator, Xabin, who does R2, had a power failure earlier today. He was hosting the tracker, so that’s down, I have no idea if he grabbed the Horrible Raw or not during the short time his power and net were working again. We can only comm. with him via text messages by proxy of TheFluff, and the last thing Fluff said was that his server = not detecting NIC anymore. Internet = No, but power is back, I guess! I don’t know how fucked we are atm, but the episode is probably going to be far later than normal.

Also, shifting the stuff for the new one was easy. The frames were the fucking same. No scene timing required. Ring Crafter Schneizel of the Panda Guild

Atlantica Online has been back up and I made Gunner Schneizel this time. SCHNEIZEL LIKES TO PENETRATE MANY THINGS WITH HIS BULLETS. Hurrr. I’ve been naming my mercenaries after the Knights of Rounds again for no apparent reason. Swordsman Suzaku, Spearman Gino, Gunner Anya, Shaman Monica, Monk Bismarck and Viking Luciano. After I make a Nonette, I’m out of Knights of Rounds to use. Maybe I will make an Artilleryman named Kannon! Artillerymen are kind of ugly tho. ;_; Oh, and I made a guild called Panda. Would’ve done “PandaKawaii” like the actual 2ch meme, but that’d make use look like weeaboo animufgts and we’d get a bunch of requests to join guild from retards k. Apparently there is also a PANDAPANDA guild. We must be mutual enemies with them or something. Spammed Mana Drain scrolls on day 1 to power level up to 20, then made the guild. Our guild icons have been a snail/flower-looking thing, a parrot, corn, and now it’s like a yellow orb with a swan in it. I’m going to keep using these things until I get a fucking panda picture. I took ring crafting again, and like… I started making a bunch of Broken Arrow rings and managed to sell them for 250-300k ea. Now the rings are like 150k ea. Fuufuu. Atlantica is probably why gg’s release was [/care] mode on Sunday. Zephyr and I wanted to release like fuck and go play our gay mmorpg’s. Lololol!111 Stamina system really sucks, and I missed out on ~40-ish stamina yesterday ’cause I went to sleep.

Why can’t Geass have dialog like this?

This other show we’re subbing, Antique, Mandoric is translating it and he copy/pastes some of the lulz as he goes.

Why the fuck can’t Geass have dialog like this instead of shit like, “Suzaku, what’s wrong?!” “You’re not here”. I think I could write a Geass yaoi fanfic completely by using lines copy/pasted from Antique. D: Lelouch would be Tachibana and Orange-kun would be Chikage, but who would be the other 2?!

Hey, I remember why I like Code Geass

I decided to re-evaluate why I’m watching Geass amidst the negativity generated after the events of R2 15. I’ve felt since the beginning of R2 fairly neutral to it. Eventually, I came to the conclusion that I am actually quite satisfied, but this isn’t because of the show itself, its because of the reason why I’m watching it. I seemed to forget this. When I first watched ep1 s1 raw, I didn’t really know much Japanese, I had no idea what the concept/basis of Geass was. Yuurei, el, dovac and I were just picking a new show to sub.

I saw this during the op and that’s all I needed to approve the show:

Being the extremely shallow fangirl that I am, I can honestly say that I’ve been more or less satisfied so far!

So, why are you watching it?
