Asagami Schneizel: He is not Yagami Light

I don’t think Schneizel is all that similar to Light. Death Note always seemed like an overly complex Biblical allegory to me because Light was tempted by power into his behavior. Schneizel has, until we hear otherwise, become like this naturally. You can’t argue that Light would’ve tried to pull something similar if he had been left to his own devices, ’cause the manga author stated before that Light would have become a lawful, normal detective if he hadn’t gotten the Death Note. It’s kind of like, Light got corrupted and then we get potato chip eating and whatnot. Lelouch and Light often get compared because of their keikaku doori’ing, and I agree with that assessment. Schneizel, in contrast, seems to drift with the wind and make crap up as he goes along. (Plus I rather doubt that he spends nearly as much time thinking about this stuff compared to Lelouch and Light) Light wasn’t exactly interested in mass killing civilians. He did have start killing non-criminals who were getting in the way of his plans, but he wasn’t filling up the pages of the Death Note with “a billion or two” normal civilian names~ Might change by R2 25, who knows.

Schneizel is actually Near

Fuck arguments about the Black Knights being stupid or what their motivations was or how Schneizel had just bombed the shit out of Tokyo and looked threatening as hell. There’s a far simpler way to explain the events of R2 19: Schneizel is Near from Death Note.

This means he’s also going to win the series!

Geass Note

Orite. Watching ep 4 of Geass today on adult swim reminded me of something - the Geass/Death Note comparison, since adult swim also hosts Death Note dub episodes to view online.

Geass and Death Note is a popular comparison - Lelouch is Light, C.C. is Ryuk, pizza is apples, Suzaku is L, Geass is the Death Note, Nunnally is Sayu, Shirley is Misa, THERE’S A TIME SKIP OMG, they lose their powers for a while then regain them, Villetta and Orange can be Raye and Naomi I guess! Whatever~ Lelouch is a genius high school student, he gets Geass by bribing C.C. with pizza, and Suzaku is the super detective who will find him. This is all lol until when you get into characters, then this shit quits making sense.

For one thing, if Lelouch could have it his way, he wouldn’t get people who he likes involved. C.C. mentions this in one of the sound episodes, and the whole Mao arc pretty much reinforced this. In regards to his relationships with other people, everything for Lelouch has been pretty KEIKAKU NOT-DOORI. He didn’t want Suzaku, Nunnally, or Shirley to ever get involved. Read more »
