Adult Swim timeslot changed

I’m pretty slowpoke.jpg here. I saw this earlier but then I started looking for what kind of ratings that Geass was getting on Adult Swim anyway and I got massively sidetracked and… yeah.

As you can see on their TV scheduling, the Geass dub on Adult Swim is being moved from a 1am airing to the 5am airing. Stay up until 5am to watch Geass dub orrrrr just watch it on their webstream? Uhm, lol… Some of their promo materials for Moribito included something about them thinking Moribito would fail on TV due to webstream pirating. I’m guessing they think the same of Geass, as they’re lumping them together in the 5-6am block? Yet last rating remark I saw for Adult Swim Geass was that it was around Bleach’s ratings~ (Hey I still can’t find this figure anywhere, I just remember reading it somewhere. Fuck.)

Anyway, does anyone know where to actually get Adult Swim tv ratings? People are crying, “This will be the death of Geass on US TV” etc, 5am is called the graveyard slot for Adult Swim programming. Also common sense kicks in because of the +4hr time change - It’s always easier to stay up until 1am than it is to stay up until 5am or wake up before 5am. But I’m also kind of like, “…….” because people were up in arms about it being in a 1am time slot to begin with, saying there’s “no way” it would get ratings there or gain any exposure to begin with. I’m curious to compare the before and after the slot change, but that would require being given more ratings from Adult Swim than simply the top 3 shows. :p

Schneizel will be whatever you want him to be

Potpurri

  • The above picture raises a point about Schneizel’s outfit: Is the purple thing under sleeveless or not? We’ve never seen him w/o the overcoat, huh. :iiam: Also, living in Arizona sucks. I used this picture because I’ve been eating ice cream lately for a cold snack.
  • The Geass.jp website has a summary for Turn 22 which includes the phrase, “a new story is being sung” or something similar, which is really comforting to hear for episode 22 in a 25 episode series. If it was “new chapter” I probably wouldn’t be saying anything but uhm!
  • There’s a new poll on BIGLOBE for your favorite R2 episode. The fields on the bottom = Comment, Gender (M / F) and Age. I’m tempted to vote for R2 19 and put “Schneizel is a fucking magician” in the comment box.
  • The Geass.jp website also lists a new event called Cafe Geass which will take place at the mai:lish maid cafe in Akiba. They’re making a drink and food menu of some sort to reflect the characters images and will have various Geass merchandise on display. Maybe it’s due to subbing Antique Bakery, but I really want pics of the food they make for it…
  • The Sound Episode 4 cover and details have been announced. It features Lelouch and a fabulous rainbow of fast food, and Kallen doing some semi-Guren cosplay.
  • Yesterday I went to my anime club to try to make them watch Geass R2. It was rejected because they’re strict about watching series as a club. When I suggested this, people yelled out, “Just do what she said, Geass is awesome” and the Club President said something like, “Wat no Geass was okay until like ep 22 of the first season”. Interesting, seeing as how most think that srsbsns shit went down in 22-25 that made Geass awesum in the first place.
    • They ended up watching Kara no Kyoukai 3 without watching 1 or 2 (though this is likely because we explained that it’s told out of order anyway). It’s extremely weird watching stuff you sub on the projector at school… and in Windows Media Player. D: I avoided telling them I’m from the fansub group so they don’t ask me where the fuck movie 4 is.
    • Dio/Yujiro from IRC and ADTRW went to his anime club too yesterday because they advertised themselves using a Spinzaku wearing a top hat and cane poster. I have yet to hear anything from him about how that went though.
  • S1 19 of the dub is supposed to be on AdultSwim today, which will introduce Schneizel’s dub voice actor. I suspect it’ll be up by the time I get home from class so if they did a separate clip with him in it I’ll throw it up. (Also since I’m lazy I think I’ll make the next poll about Dubeizel)
  • Canned Dogs posted about Geass’s BIGLOBE’s online stream viewing numbers from an MSN article. I asked Tamaki’s Girlfriend to check out the BIGLOBE webpage before to see if there were any view counters that the public could see, and she gave us a screenshot that didn’t indicate there was a view counter. The numbers are, assuming Bandai Visual isn’t lying out of their asses, mostly positive (420k+ views on R2 01). Why no public view counter on the stream anyway? :?:
  • Oh, speaking of the dub, Bandai Ent. has begun shipping replacement disks for the defectives.

FUN REMINDERS

  • Schneizel first mentioned Cambodia in S1 20. He talks of a Toromo Institute located in Cambodia which Kannon later mentions in R2 15. This place has to do with Damocles’s development (the tower with the various float system devices in the opening - maybe we should just call it Messiah), as his “thing” in R2 15 with the Toromo Institute was going to largely depend on if FLEIA failed or succeeded in R2 15.
    • Schneizel also mentions a Rosenberg Institute to Bartley in S1 22. Orange and Siegfried were to be sent there.
  • The Ragnarok Connection was first mentioned in S1 01 during the scene in which Lelouch receives makes his contract. The Emperor says, “The Ragnarok Connection. The legend begun yet again?” What this means, after watching R2 21, is a whole lot of :?: but I maintain the belief that he refers to the legend to mean “the legend of the cycle of death and rebirth”. Alternatively, it meant something else at first and has since changed.
  • The Thought Elevator is first mentioned in S1 18. The Emperor says that the construction of the Thought Elevator is going as planned.

Edit: This post has since been updated with some logic near the end.

Character age, birthday, etc

With love from an anon on 2ch. The most important thing here is that Schneizel’s birthday was changed from April 1st (April Fools Day) to February 14th (Valentines Day)… I think they just pick random holidays for him… Read more »

Anya piloted the Europa, not the Ganymede

In the novels, set in the year between the first and second seasons, Anya serves as Nunnally’s knight. She demonstrates an unusual familiarity with the deceased Empress Marianne, able to find her way through Marianne’s home despite it having been sealed off after her assassination. She cries for no apparent reason when piloting the Ganymede.

Who put this on Wiki? Anya piloted a Ganymede spin-off called the Europa, not a Ganymede itself. I corrected the name, but someone’s going to revert it back probably. :keke:

This is Straight Cougar, a.k.a. the Knight of 10

Everyone, this is Luciano Brandli, the Knight of 10. Since there are over 9000 posts of, “WHO IS THIS GUY IN THE PREVIEW?!” on the internets, this is a kawaii informative post. He pilots Percival and is nicknamed the Vampire of Britannia. He is, in actuality, Straight Cougar, and Percival will turn pink and become really fucking fast. He last appeared in ep 2 with the rest of the Knights of Rounds.

New KMF’s

*does something useful*

Geass website was updated with the following:

Galahad: Knight of 1’s KMF. Is “hueg” KMF. The sword is called Excalibur. Excalibur, notably, has its own fucking landspinner. Jesus what the hell.

Percival: Knight of 10’s KMF. Nicknamed the Vampire (Bloodsucker) of Britannia. The claw thing on the arm is actually a drill. Shield has a spike. Well, really, like every fucking piece of the KMF has a spike.

Now where is the Knight of 12’s KMF. Sexism! q_q

New Guren Naming (Again) - Seiten vs Shouten/Shouden

I want to clarify something about the Guren naming, ’cause I realize I didn’t really address this in my last naming post. :p

紅蓮聖天八極式
紅蓮: Guren
聖天: Seiten or Shouten/Shouden
八極: Hakkyoku (8 Extremes)
式: Shiki (-Type)

The translation differences people have about 紅蓮聖天八極式 are due to the seiten vs. shouten/shouden. If you read 聖天 individually as sei and ten, then they are, individually, sacred/holy and heaven. If you read 聖天 together as shouten/shouden, then it’s Ganesha/Ganapati. You can’t just romanize 聖天 as seiten or shouten/shouden then say, “This means either Heaven or Ganesha”. What we’re waiting for is someone to say it in the show so we know. :3

Because the last Guren name (Kashou Shiki) was used to denote its new mobility, then its likely that this is supposed to be read as something like, “Guren [____] Eight Extremities-Type”, and what goes in the [_____] is the pronunciation of the kanji, not a translation. Like, Guren Seiten/Shouten/Shouden is the new name, and model/build is Eight Extremities. I don’t really have any proof for this, I’m just making guesses based off of how they translated Kashou Shiki into “Flight Enabled-Type” on-screen, but left Guren untranslated. (Although, its really confusing. They translated Shinkirou as Mirage on-screen in ep 12…)

Name Guessing Game:
- Guren Ganesha Eight Extremities-Type [The implication here is that it removes all obstacles in all directions. This would be punny cause of Ganesha's four arms.]
- Guren Eight Extremities of the Heavens Type [Can go EVERYWHERE in the SACRED HEAVENS etc.]

Frankly imma call it Guren Lagann-Type until they pronounce the kanji in the show.

Name of the new Guren model

紅蓮: Guren
聖天: Ganapati (Ganesha, not Brahmanaspati)
八極: Eight Directions (Means that you’re covering all ground, coj thinks it just means the Guren’s mobility stuff is super duper upgraded and it can now go anywhere)
式: -Type

聖天: Individually read, this is like, “Super Awesome Heaven”. Let’s fucking ignore that though, because this show LOVES Jupiter, and we can link Jupiter to those 2 Kanji through a chain of bullshit (this is fitting of Geass).

聖天 is a reading of Ganesha, an elephant deity who removes obstacles. (THANKS AMERICAN GODS!)
Ganesha also goes by Ganapati (title).
Ganesha is called Ganapati due to a writing which likened him to BEING FUCKING AWESOME.
Ganapati is a title meaning you’re the ruler of planets. This is only fitting of Jupiter because it’s the hugest fucking planet.

However, I guess you can’t really link it like that in Japanese…? Idk how Hinduism works in Magic JP land, but Ganapati isn’t really the “name”. coj said that JP Buddhism is removed from Hindu so this name is probably confusing the fuck out of Japanese people too. So what’s the intended meaning, Ganesha or Ganapati? I assume because of the Jupiter in the Op, its Ganapati.

…Guren Ganesha Eight Extremities Type?
Guren Obstable Remover Full AoE-Type
Guren AoE Easy Mode-Type
Guren ~ To the Ends of the World, In Honor of Ganesha Type
Guren Elephant God Ends of Earth Form
Guren Ganapati AoE-Type
Guren Ganapati & Eight Extremes Model
Guren Mk. Ganapati Eight Extremes

……ffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff

Disregard this. I was right about Ganapati, but not about which Ganapati I was associating with.

Faces and names [R2 12]

Making this in advance so I can just link it when people ask later. -v-;

But first, here’s a picture of Schneizel for no apparent reason.

Schneizel thinks they can take advantage of China’s current self-inflicted AoE Confusion ailment!

Magazines aren’t always useful, but this is the only time I’ve seen his age written, and the ages don’t conflict each other w/the timeskip so uhhhh?
