Reflections on anime bloggin’

I went into this wanting a place to ramble to people, as my group staff was getting “…” at me for spamming the IRC room up with my stuff. Thank you all for listening in place of them. :D! Posting will die down and time will pretty much freeze here. Everything will be left in tact until I get tired of paying for my webhosting.

To Owen a.k.a. saturnine a.k.a. that guy who’s name I really only recall from iRO forums (purple Lain avatar? Wizard? Chaos?), thank you for your compliments about my writing, but I don’t think this level of “intelligent writing” is that magical considering I have all of one topic here. (I mean, when you have all of one topic, it’d be fairly pathetic if you could only produce the same writing as everyone else.)

…and even though I say “everyone else”, I’m not really sure who the “everyone else” is because I don’t really follow the anime blogosphere. During early May, I made this blog and went into this with the mindset of not liking anime blogs. In barely 5 months worth of blogging about an anime, this opinion hasn’t exactly changed. Part of this comes out of dislike for blogs like RandomC, so it was extremely amusing to wake up one day and find a link back from there. (I wonder if Omni saw the “Quit reading RandomC” tag, lol.)

I dislike anime blogs because sometimes I feel like the writer isn’t really writing because they like and/or enjoy something, but because they want to be popular, or in some cases blog things because they feel “obligated” to. (And since I’m a bitter person this opinion stretches itself to mean everyone!) So, people like say, jaalin, who was blogging Higurashi Kai because of some completely contrived reason, don’t fucking make sense to me. Now, I realize this sounds bizarre coming from a fansubber, but I only serve those who can play 720p h264 softsubbed mkv’s. Fuck yeah technology.

I set out to be entertaining, and based on feedback, I was. Soo, MISSION SUCCESSFUL. Commentators are asking “What’s next?”, but I don’t think I would be able to do something like this again. In my eyes, part of the success was simply that I devoted myself one topic and was enthusiastic about it. I don’t have much interest in giving my complete attention to a series like this for anything in fall, and none of the series in fall have Schneizel~ Also the blog is really only categorized and tagged for Geass, and re-organizing them for more general purposes would kill some of the lulz.

I remember when the blog first started and only a dozen or so people read it, the polls were so pathetic back then lol. It’s been a good ride GG.

Haha, I remember back when it was just people from IRC commenting, and that Schneizel-Byte convo. Good times.

Man, the ending of CG has kinda left me with a horrible “now what?” feeling. No more Gayass Sundays where I watch the episode and then watch /a/ rage over it. And no more updates to this fantastic blog. Thanks, koda and GG. It’s been one hell of a trainwreck.

fuck there’s still magic left, cuz the fabulous magician is alive, but yeah, there’s not much left to blog about =/, except maybe random speculation on Kannon/Naoto’s fate.

yzak, who is assuredly not Taniguchi (September 30, 2008 @ 6:37 pm)

Kannon got his memories of being Naoto back while he was having a Refrain freak out on the giant map. Feeling bad for abandoning Kallen, and after finding out that the jail his and Kallen’s mom was in had been FLEIJA’d (and that unlike most FLEIJA victims, she actually died), Naoto took up crossdressing once again for his little sister’s sake.
tl;dr The Kallen’s mom you see in the epilogue is Kannon in drag.

Even after CG has ended(?), I know that our mutual love for Schneizel and the powerful trolling of Sunrise will bring us all back here someday! It’s been fun getting something to read everyday. Maybe I should go and troll Kaioshin’s blog now…

At least you have the sense to put “intelligent writing” in quotation marks. Having said that, you did make some good points. Every once in a while :-)

It was fun while it lasted.

Good on ya. Go out while you’re on top, and keep the fuck away from the blogosphere swamp of mediocrity!

    It was a good run.

Now I can drop this throwaway name, too. Funny how something I just copypasted off 2ch just happened to match your name, though. I didn’t even notice until months later.

Congratulations on not sucking! I really enjoyed reading your blog here. I have no idea how long I had been following this, but I do remember when the first poll was up. (I just hadn’t worked up the courage to post any comments for a while.) So yes, mission accomplished: You entertained me and made me like Schneizel. And who else puts hatfucking on their blog!? lol Awesome people, that’s whom. (Don’t let fancy compliments about hatfucking get to your…head. I didn’t even see that coming as I was writing it.)

Speaking of awesome… My capcha is “FABULOUS!” written in a lavender colour. :D How appropriate.

P.S. I’m hoping you saw this on /a/? http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b46/BakaPurple/codegeassFINAL.jpg It is awesome. I’d attend that wedding. Also, FUCK! Geass AND Antique Bakery are done. At least I still have… damn, Shugo Chara and Chi ended already, too? Shit, I am so behind. ;_; OKI’llshutupnownoonewantstohearmeblatheron.

Anti-spam word “shunakano TP”? Don’t know what that is..
I will miss the spam words. The only time that I actually liked typing spam words ^^

I liked this blog because it was pointing out stuff that I would not have noticed otherwise. And just because it was amusing. There are plenty of serious blogs out there, so this was nice for a change. I liked the banners too ;)

Great job on the blog. Short and sweet is the way to go — better to conclude it now before it turns into a chore.

Your off-beat approach made it hilarious, and your enthusiasm made it attractive. It definitely added to my Code Geass watching experience.

Your blog provided much needed entertainment when I was neck deep in uni work. So a big thank you out to you Koda. Thanks to this blog, I found out that Nina humped a table and I actually learned how to spell Schneizel’s name right. Thanks for all the polls and the lulzy “symbolism” analyses.

    I’ll miss you! TC

  • zeroid (September 30, 2008 @ 2:28 pm)

Thank you, koda. Really. Not only for the effort within gg, but for the magnificent time it was to read your blog. The only thing I do feel bitter about is not catching up earlier. However, your crack theories, “symbolism srs bsnss analysis”, rages and fangirling will be forever marked in my Code Geass, blog and internet experience. Heck, I knew almost no meme when I first read ggkthx.org revival, now I laugh at the walls of tl;dr and FABULOUSness.

I really would hope you could stick a while longer, but thinking on CG second season…I think we all already learned the lesson here. Better off the scene than to turn Code Trainwreck in a trainwreck itself, and only prolong its existence without any joy or motivation.

Enjoy your FREEDOM. Its bittersweet taste is a pleasure I always long for and savour while it lasts, but never manage to grasp. Best of luck, and now know you’ve got a fan that will stay here as long as you’re as well.

I liked this blog because flaming was almost encouraged. Flames are best part of an internet community, that and bandwagon stuff like Schneizel and the word Fabulous.

Have fun =] hope you make another when a show worth trolling about comes. Imo, R2 season was the best because it had shows like Macross Frontier to compare to, which made trolling that much more epic.

D= Petition for R3. Doesn’t have to be Lelouch, just get something in that world going!

Personally, I’ve never liked anime bloggin’, not now, not 6 years ago when blogging started being the cool thing and digital fansubbing started picking up (insert nostalgiafag for NLA’s Mahoromatic here)

It’s been my observation, as a yearly con staffer (katsu), 4chanfag, and general oldfag of the internet, that the ones who bitch about other bloggers are looking for the attention. Admitingly I came in late to your FABULOUS blog, but I share the same style in blogging my favorite series, you tl;dr about what you like and what you think about and rage about what you don’t like, but in the end, it’s just an anime and it was a fun ride that you eventually end and move on to the next thing.

tl;dr, anime bloggin’, serious business, in my internets? It’s more likely than you think.
