Quit arguing about the Guilford shit

Look, guys, Guilford is alive so he can be by Cornelia’s side and they can make it seem like Schneizel was trying to get them back together somehow because he likes to make wishes come true in his own screwed up little way. If you’re gauging that from the scene, you are fine, the writers don’t care about ANYTHING ELSE, especially FLEIA science, so you shouldn’t either! Picture this: Guilford miraculously survives, who cares, Schneizel is unsure of his situation and tows him around so he can present him to Cornelia fully recovered! He tells her that he’s missing so he can present Guilford recovered to her later, “Oh look sis he’s back ^^!” and Cornelia doesn’t have to worry about Guilford’s health. But it turns out that Guilford was blinded by the FLEIA light! Tragedy. When they come to ally with the Black Knights, Guilford has fully recovered except for his eyes or whatever (If he’s even really blind), Schneizel shoots up Cornelia, then dumps her at Horai Island along with Guilford and calls it a day. He shot her because he needed to look like a complete ass and live up to his mask of the day. Or something. Or he has some fucked up idea of crippled Cornelia and crippled Guilford accepting each others imperfections and living happily ever after!

Edit: Basically… Cornelia can be his eyes, and in return, Guilford can be her legs. (I’m assuming she really got shot up badly at the legs.) I think Guilford being doted upon due to his health by the woman he was sworn to protect would’ve crushed him.

Edit2: Also I don’t really think that shooting up Cornelia was remotely necessary, but… it’s Schneizel.

She’s as shot in the legs as Nunnally was. Charles won in 20, they’re just playing through their roles in the gelatinous ooze.

Just re-watched that scene. Cornelia offers her hand and he take it?

I don’t think he’s blind, but exposure to the FLEIA has somehow granted him the power of accelerated hair growth. Perhaps with his military career in tatters hes trying for a part in a Matrix film.

This makes perfect sense because a nuke can make you hair fall out, and FLEIA is a not-a-nuke!

Guilford is wearing the sunglasses because after his “death” he infiltrated the Black Knights as mysterious ace pilot Cinco Panis, and the sunglasses are his disguise.

It’d be interesting if Cornelia’s legs really were crippled, and Guilford really was blinded, because then the two of them would resemble Nunnally in a way.

This makes sense, but purely out-of-universe or metatextual explanations for why something happens tends not to be satisfying for people who still take the show seriously (i.e. I’ll bite on your explanation). See also: Kallen needs to oppose Lulu because so we can get a Guren vs Albion fight, since nobody else has any hope of standing up to Suzaku anymore.

That said, I think the best explanation for Cornelia surviving is that Schneizel once again only applied 50% effort to the task at hand (i.e. killing her).

i’m pretty sure guilford was either blinded by the fleia blast or blinded himself so he couldn’t see lelouch making his cornelia pose and triggering his geass

I also think it would be cool if he gouged out his own eyeballs so that he wouldn’t be under geass anymore, although it’s still ridiculous that he’s alive.

What’s there to speculate about? It’s all simple deduction.

A couple eps ago, he got mindfucked by lelouch and turned into lelouch’s bitch, thinking that he was actually serving his one eternal love. Then suzaku came along, shit happened, and he got wasted. Our magician clown came to scrap up his remains and “Oh by the way, you’ve been fucking up the wrong ass buddy~”.

Realizing the truth, Guildford is feeling butthurt real bad. In order to repent for his shame, he resigned from the military, threw out his status, and wore sunglasses in a vow to never love again (let’s face it guys, the only reason he had his eyes on Cornelia was for the eye-candy~). Then he set out on a journey in a raft to become a hermit, or guru, or whatever title hobos give themselves nowadays. Somewhere along the way, he drifted onto Horai Island, and well, any island was good enough for him. The rest is history.

As for the long hair, it’s obviously because having long hair/beard is part of the requirement for been a hermit~.

He’s not blind. The speed of him grabbing her hand … not blind at all.
