Is the glass half empty or half full?
If you were to the ask “Is the glass half empty or half full?” to Charles, Schneizel and Lelouch, I imagine that Charles would respond half empty, Lelouch would respond half full, and Schneizel would respond by pointing out that half full and half empty are the same thing. The glass has liquid in it either way. Schneizel is right in a way, but he’s kinda missing the point about why people ask that question, and thus he is also wrong in a way. (Also, it’s not like Schneizel would ever have to be worried about his glass being empty. Someone will always be there to refill it~)
I was going to write more but I stopped myself realizing that the above is sufficient enough.

If it was wine in the glass, Schneizel would take the glass and drink it instead.
Also, anti-spam word == schneizel. XD

Then he would sample the aroma, and identify the differing scents detected within the wine. Etc. etc.

Wouldn’t such an answer (’both’ in short form) serve the point of why people ask that question too? Like he can see the big picture and discern what’s true/false or whatev.

I thought this neat and tidy little analogy about Charles being the ‘past’ and Lelouch being the ‘future’ was trite the first time I heard it, and your repeated mentions of it do nothing to discourage that sentiment. Specifically, the (positively connotated) associations of hope, change, and progress with Lelouch’s ‘future’ as opposed to the ’stagnation’ or ‘closedness’ of Charle’s ‘past’ and Schniezel’s ‘present’ are nothing but shallow abstractions. Despite this analogy’s explicit backing by the show I wish people would try thinking for themselves.
Your ‘imagination’ of Lelouch’s ‘half full’ here is inconsistent. The question “is the glass half empty or half full” refers to its present state. As Lelouch has asserted that “tomorrow will always be better than today”, a pessimistic ‘the glass is presently half empty’ would be in line.

Dude if you’re going to use it that way, then the half empty isn’t limited to Lelouch and Charles; it’s Schneizel too.

Presented with this question, Schneizel would respond with
“This glass is not a hat, get it the fuck away from me.”
…
“but leave your hat when you go, Kannon.”
