Revisiting the chess board

Lets take another look at this chess board from R2 16, and switch Lelouch and Schneizel’s positions as the kings. Lelouch, garbed in white as Britannia’s Emperor, and Schneizel, with the Black Knights as his new bitches.

Re-stating the obvious from the R2 16 post since the picture hasn’t changed:

  • Since there are less black pieces than white, this is symbolic to black being the underdog! (Edit: Or racism.)
  • Many of the prominent white pieces, including the king and queen, are down.
  • The remaining white pieces = 4 pawns, the vertical dude, and the tower thingie.
  • The remaining black pieces = King, both knights, tower thingie, 2 pawns.
  • The blood is only on the black side, specifically near the king and on top of his crown.

A conclusion from the R2 16 post that makes sense after R2 23:

  • The downed black tower thus must be the Ikaruga, because shows need lots of explosions so the Ikaruga is definitely fucking getting blown up. The black tower must be Ougi because that fucker lives through everything.

Conclusions after swapping the Kings and taking into consideration R2 23:

  • Schneizel the black king, with blood on his pretty hair. ;_; But really, between him, his little brother, and his dad, Schneizel’s methods would spill the most blood.
  • The destruction of the various black pawns means that a fuckload of the Black Knights are going to die ignorantly while being Schneizel’s lovely pawns~ The remaining 2 must be people like Gino (who is Jesus, and thus unable to die) and Kannon (adorable pet boy toy).
  • The dead black queen = Cornelia? :D
  • The broken pieces of white plate on the black side represent the involvement of Britannia (symbolically white here on the board) with the Black Knights.
  • …or the broken pieces of white plate just represent good old fashioned “blowing shit up”-ness, and are pieces of Mt. Fuji.
  • Ultimately, it paints a picture of the “shitty white pieces teaming up to topple the awesome black pieces”, which from what I gather in R2 23 is really the case. This battle is currently not really on the white sides favor. Having used the Fuji Explosion earlier than he wanted to, Lelouch now has to do this purely without anymore blowing shit up under people. His epic idea? Egg on Schneizel to use all of his FLEIA’s on him, and hope that Schneizel is a completely arrogant fag who ignores the pawns. He’s relying on a pawn, the hated commoner lesbian table fucker Nina, to break through and turn the tables around for him. This leaves Lelouch, Sayoko and Cecile in the Avalon as the white tower, and I guess Suzaku can be the vertical dude!
  • Schneizel isn’t allowed to touch the white tower, so long as he wants the Black Knights under him.
  • The downed white king and queen = Charles and Marianne.

    deeeeeeeeeep

    By “vertical dude” you probably mean “diagonal dude” (bishop).

    But if this were to REALLY hold up and Sunrise planned this all out, it’s kind of surprising there is no White Knight Suzaku standing. If anything, I think the White Bishop stands for TEAM SCIENCE (Lloyd, Cecile, Nina) that are the only INDIRECT (like diagonal, oh ho) weapons in Lelouche’s military.

    So damn impractical, but sounds cool.

    If you switch the Kings it totally fucks up the forshadowing of the chess set.

    Ex:
    * Many of the prominent white pieces, including the king and queen, are down.

    The White King and Queen could represent Charles and Marianne.

    * The remaining white pieces = 4 pawns, the vertical dude, and the tower thingie.

    4 pawns could refer to the Nunnally, Diethard and Cornelia(?), the Bishop could be Kannon and the Rook could be Damocles.

    * The remaining black pieces = King, both knights, tower thingie, 2 pawns.

    Black King could be Lelouch. Both Knights could be Suzaku and C.C., Rook could be his battleship, Avalon. and 2 pawns could be Nina and Lloyd?

    * The blood is only on the black side, specifically near the king and on top of his crown.

    Could be symbolic of Lelouch gaining his “Emperor” status at the cost of his friendships/relationships.

    just sayin’

    What about if we still see lelouch as the black king?

    Black pieces (Up):
    -> Two pawns: Geass soldiers
    -> Two Knights: Susaku, Jeremiah/Sayoko
    -> Rook: Avalon

    White Pieces (Up):
    -> Rook: Damocles
    -> Pawns: FLEIA warheads
    -> “Vertical dude”: Black knights

    PS: At the right we can see one piece over another… schneizel and kanon, definitely
