About Diethard again
After my last post about the Diethard working with Lelouch theory, some comments asked what exactly would Diethard do against him.
Answering this question is simple: Diethard was in the room when Schneizel talked about lol become God. If Diethard is against Schneizel, then having learned Schneizel and Kannon’s own tricks, Diethard has recorded the convo. He’ll play it for the Black Knights who will then turn against Schneizel and move their asses back to Lelouch. Schneizel gets a NOT FUCKING AMUSED, “I do not enjoy the taste of own medicine” face. Etc. Re-reading the Animedia article with the SunRise comments about Schneizel, I feel it’s implied that Schneizel is too arrogant to consider Diethard a threat to him. Also, remember the blue 2 ball which falls into the hole on its own? Probably foreshadowing of Schneizel causing his own downfall~
But I think that situation is seriously dumb. He would get properly owned, which I do expect, but not factoring in Diethard’s previous relationship with the Black Knights as a possibility against him would be extremely fucking silly. I guess you argue that by keeping Diethard around, he’s already decided to not factor it in. Or you could argue that his fabled black hole of intelligence turns against him. Or you could say that he’s gotten cocky and quit thinking ahead, which I would consider out of character. I do think that Schneizel’s arrogant, but I don’t think that his head is stuck that far up his ass. This is based on how nothing has been greatly beyond his calculations besides the Euphinator event so far.
Schneizel spilling his lol bad guy plans with Diethard around is OOC, unless it turns out that he intended for Diethard to hear them because he is actually up to something else. Or something. (inb4 “I intended you to record that and spread it so I would look like a major asshole because I’m actually the one trying to be fucking Celestial Being. Fuck off, Lelouch.”)

same reason he keeps Lloyd and Kanon and all the other freaks around: because they’re interesting.
Diethard’s a crazy motherfucker. It amuses Schniezel to hear him go “FABULOUS!” and whatnot.

That’s an interesting point. Becoz, way back in first ep of R1, Diethard was like the “fuck those aristocrat bootlickers” (the Clovis announcing on the news scene)attitude, despising flattery and all, yet now, he’s effing sucking up to Schneizel
ps Anti-spam word: dorothea (?)

You think anybody remembers anything that happened in the first episode anymore? Especially the writers?

Dorothea = Knight of Four, who died like ten seconds after her first appearance.

Schneizel isn’t exactly like Clovis. Plus, from Diethard’s POV, Schneizel is rebelling against Britannia, so how does that make him just another piece of royalty?

Maybe Diethard has been Geassed (very unlikely). For all Schneizel knows, Diethard has been Geassed to choke those with a fabulous aura.
Even if he isn’t Geassed, Schneizel should be somewhat wary about him. He might not know much about the Geass, but Suzaku probably told him that he is still being influenced by the Geass. So it would be possible that Diethard has a longterm Geass, and Schneizel wouldn’t know if it could do any harm to his side.
Then again, Schneizel is completely convinced that no one can stop him or win from him. He thinks too highly of himself. And just because he wins in chess from Lelouch, he thinks he will win this as well. I think that him underestimating Lelouch will cost him.

I don’t think Schneizel intended for Diethard to hear of his master plan. Cornelia sort of pulled him to the side to talk with him privately about Nunnally and it seemed more like Kannon and Diethard walked into that convo.

rather than ask what diethard can do to schneizel, what usefulness is diethard to schneizel and why does he have him around anyways?

He has his Black Knights resume and whatever it was he did there, which was explained although I don’t remember the details right now.
Besides, Schneizel likes keeping weird people around, remember?

Just a question: was Diethard beaten up after the escape of Zero by Rolo’s outbreak, or by Ougi beause of the Viletta-blackmai? Because if it’s the latter, it is possible that he wants to keep a distance from the Black Knights, and that’s why he is with Schneizel.

i think youre right, diethard has recorded schneizels convo with cornelia, has sent it (will send it) to leloche and he will play it for the rest of the world turning people against schneizel….which also explains why tohdoh is chrging at damocles in the op

My guess would be that Diethard is just running along with the next big ‘fad’ after his Lelouch fantasies have sprung a leak. He just wants to revel in Schneizel’s FABULOUS. And in the end he gets killed off.
And now for something completely different:
Will you start blogging Gundam 00 SS after Code Geass R2 ends? It has massive trainwreck potential and both series can be compared almost endlessly (mecha and Sunrise, duh).

Oh, I’ve got it. Schniezel wants to get rid of all military strength other than his own, right? That’s the whole point of bombing everyone back into the stone age. So since he’s planning to kill all the Black Knights after he deals with Britannia anyway, he really doesn’t give a shit what Diethard does.
I think the hole in his plan is that he wasn’t expecting whatever the fuck Nina is doing. He probably assumes/knows that Damocles and Freya are more than enough to deal with even a united front from both sides after they damaged each other (so basically as soon as he got the Order and Britannia to inflict damage on one another in 23, Damocles alone was enough to kill them all)
But once Nina and Lelouch somehow stop Schniezel from using nukes, he’ll be screwed. And then Diethard can broadcast the message to get everyone to hate him, Schniezel will have nothing left but pewpewlasers, and then we’ll have the whole NOT AS PLANNED face from him.

And (pretend) fingersnap-activation. (In reality, the finger-snapping is just for show and it’s really done by him pressing a button on a nearby computer console. (Way to ruin the magic, miasma.)
