Schneizel will be whatever you want him to be

Magazine scans + stuff about Schneizel.

The reason why Schneizel doesn’t seem like an antagonist is because he doesn’t have that dazzling ambition and greed in his character. He doesn’t wish to be a god or anything. On the other hand, he says that he “would” become a god if people expect him to. That’s just his character. But still, if he decides to do something, it has to be exactly the way he wants. The relationship between Britannia and the rest of the world must reflect upon his ideals. Which is why he would do anything to capture Lelouch, whose ideas go against his beliefs. The Sword of Damocles will turn out to be a large portion of the climax.

“Then I will become God myself! I will make the Sword of Damocles a reality!”

Character Thoughts
Kannon: “If that’s true, then…yeah. That sounds a lot like His Highness Schneizel all right. Even though he doesn’t step forward unless someone’s forcefully pushing his back.”
Cornelia: “Become God? Even though it’s my brother we’re talking about, he needs to realize that this is going too far. And bringing up something like the Sword of Damocles…”
Diethard: “Oh, how wonderful! What powerful, magnificent words! Please, I beg of you. Become God! You are most suited for it. You are indeed the light that I’ve been searching for!”
Cornelia: “….Who the hell are you? Oh, a Televesion Broadcaster. You ignorant twit. Get the hell out of my sight!”

Blue Text
Let me explain. Sir Schneizel is an extremely difficult person to understand. I’m not accusing him of bigotry…he is exceptionally intelligent. It might just be because of his intellect, but he never seems to be satisfied. It just doesn’t entertain him. Being a NOOB (Note: This is how Kokizzzle translated it, lol…) that likes anything that is glamorous, showy, and has talent, Diethard immediately offered his loyalty to him. And yet, Diethard fails to understand that Schneizel is different from when he faced the former Zero. Basically, the opinions of a producer is impracticable to a great man who is second to the throne.

tl;dr = schneizel is doing it for the lulz

Some words from yours truly, the blog author
I’m not sure how to react to this without diving my fist into my monitor. Apparently I wasn’t wrong in thinking he was some “50% effort” guy, he really is. I guess I should’ve been tipped off by his words to Gino in R2 20, but I misinterpreted them as meaning that he had something bigger in mind. He really doesn’t. Schneizel has been bullshitting this from Day 1. There is no keikaku doori, there is no snake in the grass, but there will be if you ask him to make those things happen. I think this calls for another wall of text about him…

(inb4 Light Yagami comparisons even though Schneizel has no real goals.)

But from a writing PoV, this is epic lulz and a fucking epic troll by SunRise. They’ve made a blank slate character who they can make do anything.

This actually makes Schneizel sound really interesting.

But Sunrise is totally bullshitting this.

Also, these last few episodes will be ridiculously epic.

“Basically we haven’t had time to make up any sort of coherent motivation for Schneizel, so we’re not giving him any real motivation at all.”

He really IS an all style, no substance antagonist.

At least the style part is FABULOUS as usual.

Pretty much, but to the fangirl mind these things are to be analyzed as “characterization” and whatnot.

Wow. This was really disappointing to read.

Schneizel seems like a shitty Last Boss, if this is all true.
And the staff’s comments of “OMG WE’RE REALLY SORRY! PLZ BUY OUR DVDs ANYWAY!! WE PROMISE SUMTING SPESHUL FOR THE END!! SORREE WE FUCKED YOU GUYS!! RLY!!” are kind of sad and pathetic.

This is all really anti-climactic compared to Charles and his plan of ’slaying the Gods’.

I had to re-read this and comment on this part:

    >>”From episode 23 and onward will be something out of the ordinary!”

The real translation is supposed to be “From Episode 23 and onward we’re pulling shit out of ours but tune in anyway!!”

    >>”And with that said, all of the mysteries and the missing plot will be revealed in an instant, so don’t miss a minute of it!”

Again, real translation is “And with that said, all of the mysteries and the missing plot will be revealed in last DVD release (as an extra) so don’t forget to run out and buy our product!!!”

I thought the real translation of that last part was “we’ve still not learned about pacing”.

I figured it out; Nunnally’s magic is not the lie-detector thing, it’s the ability to turn fleijas into origami cranes

regarding the article though, does this mean “Schneizel’s mask” isn’t really there then?

Perhaps his whole “personality” is the mask…

I noticed the show slipping downwards when Lelouch finally became the enemy and what not

It’s like the part in GL when Simon conquers the whole universe… except he’s doing it wrong.

They will settle their dispute with chess in the pretty castle on top of FABULOUS Damocles. So out of the ordinary.

  • pessimisticfreak (September 9, 2008 @ 3:31 am)

I’m confused. So who drove Schneizel to the Damocles plan if he didn’t want to do it in the first place? Lelouch? I thought it’s the opposite, thinking up his Zero Requiem thing to counter his brother.

I guess I missed something in the show (or in this article)….

    [Reply]

    Cat Megex (September 9, 2008 @ 9:29 am)

No, Lelouch’s whole Zero Requiem thing is his attempt to make the world a better place by painting himself as the great big bad guy and having the rest of the world unite to take him down. Or something like that.

Thanks for your reply. I guess I’ll have to see if it’s really as you say. It’s probably the best explanation if you want to go with this magazine article though I can’t help feeling it’s something else.
