R2 23 Summary…
死んだと思われていたナナリーが、敵としてルルーシュの前に現れた。 ルルーシュは、 ナナリーを操るシュナイゼルと富士の上空で激突する。
Nunnally, who was thought to be dead, appears before Lelouch as an enemy. Lelouch clashes against Schneizel, who is manipulating Nunnally, over the skies of Mt. Fuji.
Schneizel’s mask apparently drops when he manipulates his siblings or something. The other translated version of this which says Lelouch clashes with Nunnally is mis-tl’ed. I’m pretty sure that the “ナナリーを操る” is a relative clause modifying Schneizel, but imagining it as Nunnally battling against Lelouch in the Mt. Fuji airspace in a laser rocket wheelchair is pretty funny.
Edit: Remember this?

So even the official correlation page can lie on character death? orz
They might as well just bite the bullet and have Marvel Comics handle all the character deaths from hereon out.

Oh, come on, that one was completely transparent. One week it said “whereabouts unknown”, the next it said “dead”. They obviously changed it because nobody was buying it.

Word of God is the only reason anyone believes Lockon, for instance, is actually dead. Shows like Geass and 00 have done so much bait-and-switch on character deaths that people are skeptical of anything not killed by Ali staying down.
I was pretty skeptical they’d actually be willing to kill Nunally - especially WITHOUT tshamelessly milking the scene for as much drama as they could muster, ala Euphie or Shirley - but I was actually willing to give Word of God via website the benefit of the doubt, since that was the one line they hadn’t been willing to cross before. Not hamming up the death scene itself was a rare touch of good dramatic writing even, in a series that prefers to make everything melodramatic. Is there any reason to assume that Charles and Marianne, say, are going to stay dead now?

風の谷の名無しさん (September 2, 2008 @ 5:33 pm)
See, that’s the reason I never bought it in the first place - good writing in Geass?

All the people in fleia were actually transported to schneizels secret moonbase where they will be turned into a cyborg army/harem to serve in his glorious invasion of earth. Or something. Going back to drinking.

Wait…what’s the “7 [dot] 14″ in the upper-left for? Does it indicate the date? (If so, wouldn’t that be back in July?)
[Reply]
miasmacloud (September 2, 2008 @ 10:23 am)
No, that only indicates the day. 7日 = Day 7, 14日 = Day 14. In this, its giving TV summaries for the week of the 7th to the 14th. 22 is on the 7th, 23 is on the 14th.

If this is true, Sunrise is the ultimate troll.
I hope this means that Sayoko is also still alive since they were together.
I don’t get why the official site would list her as “dead” instead of as “missing” as they originally had it.
[Reply]
miasmacloud (September 2, 2008 @ 10:13 am)
They weren’t really trolling though. There was that 2nd shuttle.
[Reply]
Pentacle (September 2, 2008 @ 10:17 am)
Even if there was a 2nd shuttle, it showed that Nunnally and Sayoko were absorbed by FLEIA’s light.
There’s no way the shuttle could’ve made it outside of the radius of FLEIA’s implosion in time. Even Guildford’s Sutherland couldn’t make it outside of the bubble’s range and HE had a head start.
[Reply]
miasmacloud (September 2, 2008 @ 10:21 am)
Well, every character except Nunnally and Sayoko were given a dying thought/phrase. And Marianne tempts Suzaku to their plan with Euphy’s death, but not Lelouch with Nunnally’s death.
Anonnononon (September 2, 2008 @ 1:50 pm)
We just saw them see the light of the bomb not be engulfed by it, Lelouch also saw the light and he lived.
Also IIRC the geass.jp website is run by Bigglobe and not sunrise so the charts are most likely by their perspective.
風の谷の名無しさん (September 2, 2008 @ 3:09 pm)
They changed it because nobody was buying it, is my guess.

Nevermind. I just checked the Official Geass website.
They’ve separated Nunnally, Rohmeyer, Guildford and the Glaston Knights into a separate subgroup on their group page (the one with the character profiles).
On the correlative page, they’ve eliminated everyone who was dead except for V.V, Marianne, Charles, Rolo, Sayoko, Asahina and the above-mentioned.
Trollrise is epic.
[Reply]
asdfase (September 2, 2008 @ 10:18 am)
Nunally, Rohmeyer, Guilford, and Glaston Knights have always had their own subsection called Area 11. They have their own group because they were governing/in charge of it.
[Reply]
asdfase (September 2, 2008 @ 10:19 am)
disregard that, i realized you were talking about the character listing not the chart after i posted. but it doesn’t mean anything anyway. Just because Nunnally is alive doesn’t mean Guilford, Asahina, and Rohmeyer are.
[Reply]
Pentacle (September 2, 2008 @ 11:19 am)
If you look at it logically, if the bomb is indeed a “space transfer” device and not a weapon and instead of being killed, Nunnally and Sayoko were “transported” elsewhere, then everyone of the 35 million people caught in FLEIA’s radius would also be alive somewhere.
There’s really no other logical explanation for why Nunnally would magically survive a gigantic purple ball of death but everyone else who was also caught in the implosion would be dead.
Lightbringer (September 2, 2008 @ 11:42 am)
Because 35 million people randomly appearing somewhere on the planet would not be noticed by news crews even one month after the fact…. uhoh.
As of right now, they are all dead, save Nunnally and Sayoko (and I secretly still hope that those two are dead as well, against all odds).

about the nunnally dead thing on the correlative chart; i’ve mentioned this elsewhere, but it could be listing people as dead from the perspective of the world in Code GEASS, or maybe just from Lelouch’s POV. Everyone thinks she’s dead, so she’s dead. I never really was bothered by the correlative cuz as miasma pointed out, 2 shuttles, no death words, big place in OP

Lightbringer (September 2, 2008 @ 1:33 pm)

[Reply]
miasmacloud (September 3, 2008 @ 8:20 am)
I think it was obvious too when Rohmeyer didn’t react to Sayoko invading, but people considered the 2 transports thing just a theory, not realizing the show actually shows you 2 transports…
[Reply]
Jarmel (September 3, 2008 @ 8:20 am)
Ok I’m going to give this theory a shot. Could it be that Nunnally is still dead but the Knight of One’s geass is the ability to appear as someone else or as somene’s loved one? This would make it seem that Lelouch would be fighting Nunnally but she’s still dead and that could be da twist at the end. Please god let that be the twist.
[Reply]
風の谷の名無しさん (September 3, 2008 @ 8:59 am)
No, his geass only allows him to appears as a LITTLE GIRL.
That’s why he sewed his eye shut.
[Reply]
JArmel (September 3, 2008 @ 10:08 am)
Well it makes sense if he has the power to look like someone’s loved one. That could emotionally screw someone up. Like if he appeared as Charles’s mother, Charles could have given the order to sew the eye because he didn’t want to see his dead mother.

tycoex (September 3, 2008 @ 6:21 pm)
There’s no way they were all transported somewhere else. It shows Nina with some body bogs in ep 21.
Hmmm….
I thought they were all incinerated…. why is there body bags!?
[Reply]
wolfx (September 3, 2008 @ 7:40 pm)
Body bags cuz some people died from the falling debris and knightmare frames doing battle? Geez…use yur brains.
And most of you forgot of the unexplained “teleportation” of Kallen and Euphemia back in R1 where they escaped Avalon’s hadron cannon. Probably the same happened to Nunally.

Sol Falling (September 3, 2008 @ 8:34 pm)
Goddamnit, Sunrise. Fuck. I was one of the few who actually believed in Nunally’s death from the beginning, since I had the faith that even if it didn’t happen very often, surely Sunrise could at least recognize when it managed to stumble onto good writing. This disappoints me beyond belief.
