I just realized that I should have been able to guess how to romanize Kannon correctly
Given my theory about KANNON=NAOTO, I realized that I should have been able to guess how to romanize his name “properly” based on thinking that he’s Naoto and how Kallen’s name romanization goes.
カレン -> Karen -> Kallen
カノン -> Kanon -> Kannon
Ka -> Ka
Middle consonant -> Doubled
Oh Naoto-kun, you silly fag.

No, n can indeed be m. However, no can’t be mo.
“N” is difficult to pronounce in front of certain consonants, so Japanese as well as English morph it into “m”. See “sempai” and “impossible” respectively.
