Justifying Lelouch’s Actions (Also, Schneizel)

Lelouch fans, you’re adorable, really, but Lelouch was not at the Cult HQ to destroy his enemy. Please quit using this excuse and face the fact that Lelouch was there because he is a teenager with hormones and he was fucking pissed. In episode 11, he told C.C. he wanted to keep the Cult in check and use their resources to be more awesome than the Emperor. Then Shirley died and the meaning of going to the Cult changed. It was no longer about getting shit to defeat the Emperor, it was now about being pissed off about Shirley’s death, and he ordered the Black Knights to kill people because of a conclusion he reached as a result of Shirley’s death.

Avenging Shirley is not the same fucking thing as destroying the Cult so they wouldn’t be his enemy, but [the internets] seems to have no problem justifying Lelouch’s actions with that excuse. The only remote link we could draw between “Shirley is dead” and “The Cult” is that Rolo comes from the Geass Cult, and that’s pretty fucking weak link because Rolo didn’t kill Shirley because of the Cult, he killed her out of pure jealousy.

The conclusion which Lelouch reached as a result of her death is that allowing Geass to continue to exist and be researched upon was fucking dangerous. However, this judgment also has nothing to do with “Lelouch was just going after his enemy”, so that still nullifies that “argument”.

The part about this being addressed towards Lelouch fans who are delusional in justifying his actions ends around here.

Now, did he judge that that Geass was dangerous for the good of humanity or out of grief from Shirley’s death?

He built up some EMO DELUSIONAL RAGE from grief over her loss. Essentially she has been fucked over repeatedly out of her love for him, and him trying to protect her. Though his intentions might have been well-mannered originally, this is how shit happened. His dialog in episode in 14 pretty much says he wants to blame Geass for her death, though I believe some of it his fault. Even though Lelouch is supposed to be someone who knows sadness (Ougi’s words, not mine), he doesn’t seem to want own up for this sadness.

He claims he will purge Geass from the world for her sake, but he has no qualms about keeping his power. It’s like he selfishly judges himself to be superior to all other Geass users in the world by singling himself out like that. Then after explaining he judged Geass sucks, he tacts on a phrase like, “WELL THIS IS THE LEAST I CAN DO FOR SHIRLEY’S SAKE!!! YARLY!1″ Considering that her chain of misfortune was triggered by his fucking Geass, this is… ~_~;

And even then, what about other tragedies caused by his Geass? Surely Shirley (…) can’t be the only one. They, of course, mean nothing until someone who is close to him gets involved.

He may say that the Black Knights are for his mothers sake, that he wants to change the world for his sisters sake, and that he destroyed the Cult for Shirley’s sake. (I don’t know where I’m going with this never mind.)

Trying to get back on track, uh, certainly the fact that Lelouch made the Order of the Black Knights all to avenge someone should maybe tip you off from the get-go that he is a vengeful motherfucker. Lelouch has been like this.

…ugh I just read the above wall of text and it’s fucking confusing but I’m blaaaah coherency mode.

Some awesome bullet points:
- “Lelouch went to the Cult to destroy his enemy.” No, Lelouch went to the Cult because he’s pissed about Shirley’s death.
- “Lelouch was originally planning to destroy the Cult.” No, Lelouch wanted to use the Cult to get an upperhand in Geass.
- Lelouch judged that Geass is too xXxtreme to be in the world, thus he must take out the Cult.
- Lelouch keeps his Geass, though he believes the power is fucked up etc and needs to be rid of from this world.

Now, like I said in my Subtle Contradictions post? Way to go, Lelouch. This is not a criticism of actions rant. If I were Lelouch, I’d probably do the same shit. What I wouldn’t do is delude myself in my justifications.

tl;dr = Be a Schneizel fan, you don’t have to think about this shit

Seriously. :colbert:

I can’t say I’m much of a fan of any character in this series for a “good” reason. Schneizel is purely a “love at first sight” crush because he’s a handsome blond guy in a white coat (like Rufus Shinra and Lucifer Landberd <3). Also his bangs are awesome. That’s about as “deep” as my affection gets. Lelouch, Suzaku, etc, the rest, I’m fairly neutral towards. I think that a lot of characters in this series are fucking delusional.

Certainly, Mia speaks words of wisdom.

    On to the Schneizel fantrain!

I don’t like Schneizel and agree. All his actions since the very first episode have only been about himself, he doesn’t care about Japanese or most of the people for that matter he would use whoever he sees fit to reach his goal regardless of how many innocent he will kill or got killed.
Shirley death is also a direct consequence of his own actions but instead to blame himself for it, he prefers throw the blame on the others.

Not only is Lelouch a bastard, but he’s just plain irresponsibly slow on the trigger. What, did he need to take a minute to gloat before blowing Rolo up?

Actually I’m just bitter about the cheap cop-out the story took to prevent Lelouch from being TRULY despicable in this episode. Come on, don’t be a goddamn tease!

“- “Lelouch went to the Cult to destroy his enemy.” No, Lelouch went to the Cult because he’s pissed about Shirley’s death.
    - Lelouch judged that Geass is too xXxtreme to be in the world, thus he must take out the Cult.”

Reverse the order of these two statements and maybe you will understand the lelouch fans’ reasoning:

Lelouch judged that Geass is too xXxtreme to be in the world (because it got SHARLY killed), therefore the cult is now his enemy/worth his time to eliminate, therefore he went to the cult.

“- Lelouch keeps his Geass, though he believes the power is fucked up etc and needs to be rid of from this world.”

Lelouch specifically said ‘if this is the power of the king, then one (person with this power) is more than enough.’ Since his daddy let his mummy die (in Lelouch’s eyes this is the case), his daddy does not deserve to be ‘that one.’ Since Rolo is A) a serial assassin without even so much morality as to understand the concept of someone being a commrade, B) a gay, he does not deserve to be the one. Since V.V. kidnapped Nunnaly, he/it does not deserve to be left alive. So Lelouch have two options, wipe out every geass mother fucker on the planet but me, OR kill myself and hope that everyone else just starts being nice.

If an evil exists that your justice cannot defeat, blah blah etcetera, ‘I would become evil to defeat the even greater evil.’ You do not need anything else to explain AND justify all of lelouch’s actions throughout the entire damn show. (But just in case you do, also keep in mind that in episode 1, without the contract with CC, he would have very very certainly died. he’s reflected upon that fact numerous times through the show and thus has a strong attitude that his life is no longer really his own. The killing of his emotions is actually personified when he vomits in reaction to remembering the instant he shot Clovis)

tl;dr Lelouch is okay with evil, he is honest about this fact, and he is of the opinion that only he can do it, because, lets face it, only he can do it.

Being evil is fine, being delusional about your evil is not fine. This is what I’m bitching about. I think he (as well as Suzaku) are delusional about themselves, and this has some founding in S1.

Doing something like “I JUDGE MYSELF TO BE THE ONLY GEASS USER WORTHY OF GEASS” when he hasn’t met every Geass user is honestly pretty mindless.

Well, Rolo obviously was aware of the fact that Lulu won’t be happy to face Shirley’s death, moreover, he should have noticed that Lulu was trying to shield members of the student council from the consequences of him being Zero. On top of that, Rolo used to claim himself that he wants the things in Ashford remain the way they were.
So, the fact that Shirley got killed without much consideration clearly shows that Lulu didn’t have the level of control necessary to efficiently use Rolo. Actually, having such unstable subordinates can thwart even the most brilliant plans on its own.

Don’t you think that Lulu could have realized that along with the fact that controlling an entire organization of geass users/researchers is a way harder challenge? If the failure with just Rolo by himself results in a death of someone close, then what to expect from the attempt to take over entire Order?

This way killing them off seems like a reasonable decision, while all the stuff about revenging Shirley’s death is no more than a justification for the slaughter. I haven’t seen Lulu grieving a lot about what he had done to Euphemia, and back when he was definitely more at fault.

Overall, it doesn’t seem to me that Order’s extermination was an emo decision, neither Lulu looks like a saint. Actually, he never did :)

To play devil’s advocate, based on how the people of the Cult revered C.C. (and this doesn’t seem to be one sided; she showed some attachment and sympathy towards them when he first introduced the idea of LETS GO BEAT THEM UP), making the cult his bitches is/was possibly an option.

    Dakkar (July 14, 2008 @ 5:11 pm)

Judging from previous conversations with C.C., Lulu never forgot about her being a former master of the Cult. To me it looked like he was considering this connection as one of the means necessary to play them. Still, Rolo has clearly proven that emotional link might make you a loyal bitch, but doesn’t imply that you’re a reliable subordinate.
Hence, even putting entire V.V./Charles matter aside and assuming that Lulu made Order follow him, for how long and to what extent can he use them without getting backfired? The geass users were kids similar to Rolo, so controlling them seems to be too troublesome. As for scientists… Well, even more regular ones, like Rakshata and Lloyd, are definitely out of this world, then what to expect from those involved with the Cult? :)

Well, regarding scientists :iiam: however I get the general idea their own scientists aren’t too hot. V.V. teleported Bartley and his men there to fix up Jeremiah and Siegfried after all. Seems like Schneizel and his buddies are more scientifically awesome.

    Dakkar (July 14, 2008 @ 5:56 pm)

I wouldn’t expect Geass Order being deeply interested in classical physics, so it’s no wonder they had trouble handling mechanical/electronic adjustments by themselves. It’s not clear what is the nature of the geass, but it looks reasonable to assume they were more into genetics/biology, etc.

BTW, this makes them relatively useless for Zero to start with, as the results of genetical experiments on humans are generically hard to predict and almost impossible to precisely repeat, not to mention that the entire thing takes tons of time. V.V. was playing with geass infused kids for awhile, but didn’t seem satisfied with the results. Just take his comment on Rolo for the reference :)
